Sketching a Honeybee.

When we are sketching at school, we do a quick sketch first.  Then we do a very slow, careful sketch with the teacher, and these look amazing!  Here is my honeybee in the hive.

Publishing My Writing.

This is the story I wrote in my book and then I typed the words by myself on the computer.  My picture matches my words.

"This was tricky for me to find the letters and Miss Te Wao was helping me.  I drew the picture and I did the paint by myself.  My picture looks scary!"

Look What I Can Read!

"I can find the word-of-the-week.  First Mrs Kerr tells me it.  Then I can look for it by myself.  It is easy and Miss Te Wao can help me if I get muddled up."

Ordering Numbers.

This game is on Sunshine Online.  The monkey and the orangutan and the gorilla are eating all of the bananas and I am counting them too.

"I can count the bananas by myself.  I can count to eight and then the next number is nine.  The number in front of eight is nine?  In front is six, no seven.  I still need some help because it is tricky to do the numbers."

We are learning to write our numbers by ourselves and to put them into the right order.

"I can write the numbers up to 4.  I can write lovely numbers but I need to put them in the right order, 1, 2, 3 and 4.  At home, I can write on the paper."

I Can Read.

I am learning to read and write the word - can - this week at school.  Here it is in my reading book.

"Last year reading was tricky, but this year I know the words now.  At home I read to Daddy and Mummy."

My Writing.

This is my first week at school this year.  I wrote a story.  First I drew my picture.  Next I told Mrs Kerr my story.  She wrote the words for me and I copied underneath.

"This was easy for me because I can already write underneath.  I really like swimming at the beach!"

Year 1.
